Dr. Allison Kivisto
Dr. Kivisto studied Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor and graduated with Dean’s List status in 2010. She has always had a passion for health and wellness which lead her to continue her education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario where she graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic 4 years later in 2014. During her time in Toronto, Dr. Kivisto became a certified Yoga Instructor (YTT-250hrs) through YogaTree studios, where she studied teaching philosophy based on three disciplinary lineages – classical hatha, ashtanga and hot yoga. In addition she is a Functional Range Conditioning Specialist (FRCS). This certification allows her to assess for proper joint health and mobility in order to prevent and correct dysfunctional movement patterns. Reduced joint mobility can lead to joint degeneration, pain and future injury. Dr. Kivisto is also trained in Graston, which is a instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization technique.
Treatments will incorporate spinal manipulative therapy, soft tissue and instrument assisted soft tissue therapy, functional movement assessments, rehabilitative strengthening exercises, athletic taping and stress reducing techniques.
In her spare time, Dr. Kivisto enjoys staying active by teaching yoga and fitness classes, keeping a regular yoga practice , running and staying as active as possible. She is excited to serve the people of Windsor – Essex County!
Dr. Kivisto is registered with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, is a member of the Ontario Chiropractic Association and the Canadian Chiropractic Association.
