CUPPING THERAPY
WHAT IS CUPPING THERAPY?
Cupping Therapy is an alternative medicine practice that treats pain, inflammation, and muscle tension in your body through the use of special cups that suction the skin for a few minutes at a time. This increases blood flow, relaxation, and an overall feeling of well-being.
WHEN IS IT RECOMMENDED?
At Movement Health, Cupping Therapy is recommended if your health and/or mobility are being compromised by an issue related to stress, muscle tension, and/or chronic pain. Whether you’re looking to manage an ongoing condition or simply want to reduce stress in your body, we work with you to create a Cupping Therapy care plan that will help you reach and/or maintain your health and mobility goals.
Your care plan can include follow-up visits, as well as referrals to other healthcare professionals. Whenever possible, the Movement Health team will work with your other healthcare providers to enhance the effectiveness of treatments that you’re receiving outside of our clinic.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During a Cupping treatment, one of our qualified and experienced team members will gently apply special cups to your skin for a few minutes at a time to create a suction. The suction pulls your skin up into the cup, increasing blood flow to the area. It is common for the skin to warm underneath the cups and for a mark to temporarily appear when the cups are removed. These marks will fade over time.
